Kiersten Leos lead the Lady Blue to a 63 – 55 win over the state-ranked Westhill girls basketball team on Friday, February 13th at Camden High School. Camden again showed a balanced offensive game plan with big contributions coming from their top three scorers. Alyssa Curtis put up 19 points, while Hayley Kelley posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Camden finished the season with a 14-4 record. The big season ending win surely has raised eyebrows and garnered the attention of many Class A schools in the region.
Last year a young Camden team made a deep run in playoff action before losing to future champion Jamesville-DeWitt in sectional semifinal play. This year with more talent and an extra year of experience for their core players, they look to be a tough match up for any team in the division.
On selection Sunday, February 15th, their accomplishments were recognized when the committee gave them the number 2 seed for the class A sectional tournament. The number one seed went to the Indian River girls, who are ranked 5th in New York State Class A.
The number 2 seed earned them a first round bye. They will face the winner of the February 17th match up of #7 East-Syracuse Minoa and #10 Notre Dame.
Camden will play at home on Friday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m. This is a game you will not want to miss.
Congratulations on the great season ladies!
Keep up the hard work.
